When we talk about "food insecurity," we mean the inability to consistently and reliably obtain or consume an adequate and sufficient quantity of food to sustain an active and healthy lifestyle. Often, this is because they don't have enough money or can't find affordable, healthy food. In the United States, over 9 percent of the elderly population faces food insecurity.
